“Many kudos to everyone involved in making the Kid’s Night Out another highly successful event! Kudos to the students, too, for their high attendance, enthusiasm, being so polite to our guests, and for being so well behaved. What a pleasure it was to take part and observe such a fun evening! Thanks to all the PTSA members for all you do for our school. You are definitely THE best!!”

And this one:

Dear Skip, Melissa, Les, Braden and all the folks at omspostcards,

I just received your package containing cards and letters of support.  Thank you so much.  It arrived with perfect timing, tomorrow is Christmas Eve.  Our battalion chaplain will be hosting a Christmas eve party for the Soldiers, and that will be a perfect time to hand them out to the troops.

We have been reading them, and I have to thank you for the words of support.  We also thank you for the smiles and laughs that you have brought to us.

One favorite among the female Soldiers and officers is a pair of postcards.  The first reads, “Army guys are strong!”  The second reads, “There are Army girls too, you know!”

We are the 6th Transportation Battalion, known as the “DOERS”   Our unit history goes back to WW2 and the red ball express.  Currently, we are a “heavy lift” battalion, which means that we have big trucks called HETS ( Heavy Equipment Transporters) that haul tanks, armored vehicles, and other heavy loads.  We are based in Kuwait but our Soldiers convoy into and all over Iraq.  This picture is our battalion headquarters.  We deployed together as a headquarters from FT Eustis, VA, and took command of the 3 truck companies and 2 boat companies here.

Thank you for your support and good wishes.

BLANKET DONATIONS:

Osceola Middle School’s Multicultural Committee and UnClub would like to thank the PTSA, OMS parents, OMS staff members, and our community for donating so many blankets for the homeless. The generosity of those affiliated with Osceola Middle is, once again, overwhelming. Thank you so much!

In the spirit of giving and helping our community, we hope to participate again next year. We would like to encourage you and our community to keep in mind a blanket collection for next year. The request for us to get the blankets together usually comes with a quick turnaround, so if prepare ahead we may be able to collect even more blankets for next year. Thank you for all you do for our Osceola Middle School students, staff, and community.

Sincerely,

Mrs. D. Johnson for UnClub and Ms M. McIntosh for the Multicultural Committee
