Why Join PTSA?

By joining the Parent Teacher Student Association you are not only benefitting your child, but also helping the school and your community. You don’t have to commit to volunteering if you join, though any time you give is greatly appreciated. There are many benefits to being OMS PTSA members.

Parental Benefits:

  • There’s no better way to know what’s going on in your school.
  • PTSA functions are great opportunities to meet parents and teachers, building relationships and discussing issues that are relevant to your and your family.
  • The PTSA is a great forum for exchanging ideas! By getting involved with OMS PTSA you can help make positive changes in your child’s school.
  • During general meetings, guest speakers are invited that will enrich your family’s lives. Sometimes fun, sometimes serious, they are always informational. A list of these programs can be found in our calendar of events.
  • For parents and students involved the Traditional Program, participation in PTSA counts towards volunteer hours.

Student Benefits:

  • Students who join before September 30, 2008 will be entered into a drawing to win a $100.00 Visa gift card. The winner will be announced the first week of October.
  • Student members receive free admission to all Kid’s Night Out events.
  • Students are encouraged to attend meetings and get involved. You have as much of a voice as the Parents and Teachers in the OMS PTSA!
  • Give back to the community by volunteering with the PTSA.

Staff Benefits:

  • Teachers and staff who join before September 30, 2008 will be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to a Bay Area hot spot! The winner will be announced the first week of October.
  • Teacher’s Wish List: MEMBERS can submit a list of ‘class room wishes’ ($100.00 limit) for the PTSA to consider granting. One Wish List will be fulfilled each month.
  • The PTSA is very involved in Teacher Appreciation Week as well as FCAT week and end of the year programs (for both members and nonmembers).

OMS PTSA strives for 100% membership. Your $5.00 PTSA dues ($1.75 goes to National PTA, $1.25 goes to the Florida State PTA) benefit your children and their school. Please print and fill out the membership form and send it to the front office. Payment of dues is accepted in the form of check or cash. Please make checks payable to OMS PTSA.
