What happens to the dues we pay for PTSA?
OMS PTSA dues are $5.00 per person.
$1.75 of the dues goes to the National PTA for them to provide materials and publications, underwrite the national convention, support workshops that address the welfare of children, keep a volunteer legislative committee in Washington, D.C. to advocate for children and youth, and maintain a website.
$1.25 goes to the Florida State PTA to provide materials and publications to the local units, maintain a state office that serves local units, publishes a Florida PTA Bulletin, finance special projects, and provide leadership training.
$2.00 from from the membership due stays in the OMS PTSA to support various programs and activities in our school.

How do I become involved in a committee?
E-mail Debbie Ciechowski or Carol Robinette for information on volunteering with the Osceloa Middle School PTSA.
Do I have to come to school to volunteer?
No! We have volunteer opportunities that can be done away from the school but still benefit our PTSA.
Can I only volunteer once in a while?
Absolutely! Any amount of time volunteered is appreciated.
How often does the PTSA meet?
The PTSA Executive Board and Committee Chair persons meet monthly. General PTSA meetings are held every other month with the exception of December and May. Dates and times to be announced.
Where and when are the PTSA general meetings held? What time do they start?
They are typically held in the Media Center, at 7:00 p.m. Meeting dates will be posted on the calendar. We welcome all members to attend, parents, teachers and students alike.
What happens at the PTSA meetings?
Minutes from previous meetings are approved. Reports are given from the Treasurer, and the Committee Chairs. New and unfinished business is discussed and announcements are made. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity to be involved in what is happenings at OMS!
Can I volunteer even if I am unable to come to the meetings?
Absolutely! Volunteers are vital for many of our events and programs.
Can I volunteer for more than one committee?
Yes! Many of our members find their diverse interests are put to good use on several committees.
Do I need to fill out an application form to volunteer at the school?
Yes. This form is available for download here (PDF) or at the front office. Return the completed form and a copy of your Drivers Licence or State I.D. to the front office.
Do I need to keep track of the time I spend volunteering?
Yes. In the front office, you can enter your volunteer time into the computer so that your hours will be logged.

Who do I contact to volunteer?
E-mail any Executive Board member for information about volunteering. You could also print and fill out the Volunteer Registration (PDF) form and bring it into the front office with your Driver’s License or State I.D.
